Squidoo Giant Squid Good News Blast 2/18/2010

This good news came in from Growwear:
Today, I am very happy to report that Squidoo Lens Reviews has now moved to a WordPress blog. The address is still the same (http://blog.growwear.com), but the format is going through a huge makeover.
The main purpose for this move is to take advantage of the many WordPress tools to help the blog grow beyond Squidoo to reach the writers out there who don’t know about the great community of Squidoo.
Along with these changes, I am looking for a few writers to join in and write about the great lenses they’ve come across. Some of these lensmasters will be receiving a personal invitation, but I encourage you to let me know if you are an interested reviewer. I will certainly give you due consideration.
There will be five writers (Authors) who post once a week on their chosen day. There will be a few contributing authors (Contributors) who post when they are inspired. And, we’ll have a private Ning community for helping each other grow along the way. Plus, both Authors and Contributors will have the potential for affiliate sales (Zazzle.com) from each post they write.

I had the pleasure of meeting a fellow Squid in person this week!
NYFamily5 and I met for coffee and had a very pleasant chat about our mutual Hometown and Squidoo.
It was fun and pretty much the first time that I was able to discuss things like Giant Squids, and modules, and lenses, face-to-face with someone who really understood what I was talking about.

But the very BEST news of all that I heard this week is that our Cancer Warrior has reportedly won her battle!

We received some good news from Flowski:
I have been working on a new website/blog to compliment my success in the gift ideas niche on Squidoo, Gifts and Ideas Blog , and as soon as I’m done dotting the T’s and crossing the I’s there I’m going to touch up old lenses and churn out some nice new Squidoo’s to tie into it.
You know we were on the road all last summer, then when we settled back down in Tahoe, and that Christmas lens of mine started blasting off. Then it was all I could do to keep up with it. 20,000 hits a day is more responsibility than I ever imagined, I actually felt great pressure to keep it perfect. I had to work on that lens literally constantly, replacing sold out products, rotating items not selling, trying to keep up with Gil and his editor switch over and back again etc… I bet it was updated at least 100 times a day, Google cached it every couple of hours. In fact some more good news, it’s still like #3 for “best gifts” on Google and my green gifts is #4 on Google just below it. WOW I’m #3&4 on Google for best gifts below gifts.com!!! – how cool is that? Squidoo is so amazing…

SquidKiva made $3000 in kiva loans during 2009, with a total of 32 members.
SquidKiva is a Squidoo Lensmaster Lending Team for kiva.org, which makes loans in increments of $25
to entrepreneurs around the world who don’t have access to banking. These loans
improve the quality of life for the borrower and their family, and help to build
a strong local economy, therefore helping the entire village.
