Have you ever met a Squid in person?
I did. In fact I met two of them just the other day for coffee and bagels. We talked about all things Squidoo and had a great time.
This all started when NYfamily5 and I found each other through a post at the Get Cracking with Bonnie and Robin Facebook page and when Bethd821 read about our meeting she contacted us about getting together too. With that meeting, the Triangle Squids were born. It’s wonderful to be able to discuss things like modules and lenses with real people, in real time, who actually understand what you are talking about.

We wanted to share our idea with fellow lensmasters and provide an easy way for them to connect with each other too so Bethd821 started a Squidoo Meet and Greets Facebook Page where the Triangle Squids, and other Squids who get together to meet and greet, can share their stories, discussions and adventures. Stop by the page and post about your location to find other interested Squids today.

"I know you don't see or hear from Trekkiemelissa as much as you used to, but I am still around lurking. Since I have been with Squidoo, I have been also going to college for webgraphics design. I just got my grades last week for my classes. On top of getting A's in most of my classes except for when I take math, I managed to make the deans list for the first time in my life. That is honor roll for college especially since I have always struggled through school all of my life.

My good news is that my Book Repair lens has really shot up in the rankings lately. Today (2/26/2010), it is #40 overall! Yea! How did it get the boost? BevsPaper wrote a review on Squidoo Lens Review. We get by with a little help from our friends!

Good News for Mystic Squids

Mysticmama has just opened 2 new sites. The first is Mystic Squids: a private Ning community for Metaphysical, New Age & Spirituality minded Squids. Mystic Squids is open to all Squids interested in having a private place to share these interests with other like-minded Squidoo lensmasters. It’s a “private” site, because only the front page is open to the public, everything else that goes on inside Mystic Squids stays private, so Squids have a safe & non-judgemental place to talk about things from Astrology to Wicca.
Mystic Minds: is an even bigger project. A Blogging Community, much like Squidlog or Crabbysbeach, except open to the public, not just lensmasters. The site is built in the Wordpress platform & open to anyone who wants to blog about New Age, Metaphysical &/or Spirituality subjects…The “New Age” or metaphysical niche is massive & includes everything from science to spiritual, philosophy to psychology, Astrology to Tarot, Angels to reincarnation to Alternative realities & even science fiction… So there are literally thousands of blog possibilities. All Squidoo lensmasters are welcome to join both sites.

Squidoo Giant Squid Good News Blast 2/18/2010

This good news came in from Growwear:
Today, I am very happy to report that Squidoo Lens Reviews has now moved to a WordPress blog. The address is still the same (http://blog.growwear.com), but the format is going through a huge makeover.
The main purpose for this move is to take advantage of the many WordPress tools to help the blog grow beyond Squidoo to reach the writers out there who don’t know about the great community of Squidoo.
Along with these changes, I am looking for a few writers to join in and write about the great lenses they’ve come across. Some of these lensmasters will be receiving a personal invitation, but I encourage you to let me know if you are an interested reviewer. I will certainly give you due consideration.
There will be five writers (Authors) who post once a week on their chosen day. There will be a few contributing authors (Contributors) who post when they are inspired. And, we’ll have a private Ning community for helping each other grow along the way. Plus, both Authors and Contributors will have the potential for affiliate sales (Zazzle.com) from each post they write.

I had the pleasure of meeting a fellow Squid in person this week!
NYFamily5 and I met for coffee and had a very pleasant chat about our mutual Hometown and Squidoo.
It was fun and pretty much the first time that I was able to discuss things like Giant Squids, and modules, and lenses, face-to-face with someone who really understood what I was talking about.

It’s a Hit

I’m pleased to announce that day one of “Get Cracking with Bonnie and Robin” was an amazing success!
We had a terrific amount of participation and a bunch of super creative lenses built for our “first” challenge.
Some of the new lenses built included the first reel to reel tape recorders, Things for your First Apartment, casting a first spell and even a first time jump from an aeroplane!
One of the creative lens ideas that stood out for me was a lens created by LeanneChesser for her first grandchild. She started the lens to use as a journal to record information about her daughter’s pregnancy and her new grandson before he’s born.

Great idea on Leanne’s part and a great way to show off the fact that just because we are making quick lenses at the Get Cracking Facebook group, doesn’t mean you can’t go back and add more information and build on to these lenses later on!
