I received a note from a concerned lensmaster about this post, Here is my reply:

First let me say that I am speaking from an organizer's point of view, not from Head Quarters.
Bonnie and I have discussed this topic many times. We are here to help the lensmasters create successful lenses.

Whether a lensmaster is solely here to earn money for charity, or themselves, or even to do a little of both, community based tribute lenses are just not useful. And lately we are seeing more and more of them. As I said, they are very nice, and yours happen to be exceptional. But from an earnings point of view, I bet you aren't making a whole lot of money from them. We'd rather see people creating successful niche type lenses with greater earning potential.

My comment about not making any new lenses was because I didn't want to generate the creation of any more tribute lenses. Leaving comments on our favorite lensmaster's lenses is far more helpful to them than another lens about them is.
