Squids Gone Purple!
The Giant Squid Showcase is written by Giant Squid Organizer rms and now exclusively features the Purple Star lenses on Squidoo.com.
Purple Stars are awarded to well-written Squidoo pages (lenses) that stand out from the crowd either for excellence, topicality, or creativity.
Purple Stars are generally reserved for lenses written by Squidoo's Giant Squid Lensmasters but on occasion are handed out to other deserving lenses as well.
The Purple Star Program
The Purple Star Program is a community driven project developed by Squidoo.com to help find, and reward, the very best pages at Squidoo.com.
bdkz and rms, Squidoo's Giant Squid Organizers, head the program but it's up to the entire Squidoo community to make it work.

CherylK – My Quest for a Greener Life
My Quest for a Greener Life is my very first lens which I published in February 2008.
We were housesitting in Washington state at the time and somehow I found the Squidoo website. I wish I could remember how I discovered it but I can’t. I was probably googling for information about something. That’s my guess, anyway. Best thing I’ve done in a long time – didn’t take long for me to get hooked!
But I also was reading everything I could about being more earth friendly so I decided that my first lens should reflect that. Making better choices and learning about the consequences of my lifestyle certainly opened my eyes.
I think it’s important to be aware of how we’re damaging our environment but I’m not a radical or anything like that. I’ve met people who are totally obsessed and that turns me off. I think just being aware and taking small steps are the best way to start. Helping to get the word out seemed like a responsible thing to do. That’s the story behind my first Squidoo lens!
I’d like to thank you and Bonnie for being so supportive of all of us. And thanks to Megan and all of the ‘behind the scenes” people who make sure everything runs like clockwork. And thanks to all the Squid Angels and Mentors and Citizen Squids. A better group of people does not exist.
I started a blog the previous fall called Lake Mary Musings and did a blog post about my first lens there. You can read it here: Do You Squidoo?
All the best ~ CherylK
