Welcome to the second part of How to Build a Better Holiday Niche.

In part one, we chose a niche topic and built a big ticket item lens for it.  Today we are going to broaden our niche by making what KimberlyDawnWells calls  Niche Niche Gift List lenses that go with our chosen topic.

That isn’t a typo, I wrote niche twice because when it comes to niches, two are better than one.

A double niche goes a bit deeper than a single niche does.  I’ll demonstrate with my red kitchen appliances niche.

My big ticket item that I really want to sell is a red gas range.  A new range might be on top of anyone who cooks, gift list so I could make one gift list lens simply titled Gifts for Cooks and that would be good but what if I get a little more specific?  What if I make a lens for  Gifts for a Mom who Loves to Cook?  Now I’ve got a double niche working for me and a much tighter and targeted audience.

Here’s a few more niche niche examples:

Instead of Gifts for Boys, you make What Ten-Year-Old Boys Really Want

Instead of Gifts for Grandma, you make Best Gifts for a Traveling Grandma

Instead of Gifts for Your Cat, you make Gifts for Your Siamese Cat

This is where your niche begins to grow. After you’ve made your first niche niche gift list lens, don’t stop!  For example, after I’ve made my Moms who Love to Cook gift list lens, I can make a lens called 10 things a Dad who Cooks Really Wants gift list lens, and then maybe What to buy for a Man who Bakes gift list lens, a Bakers Dozen Favorite Gifts lens, a Gifts for the New Homeowner, etc. etc. etc.  The trick to selecting your niche niche gift list lens ideas is that each one should revolve around your chosen big ticket item.

And finally here’s where your big ticket item lens come into play. On each of your niche niche gift list lenses you add a featured lens module towards the bottom that says something like, Want to see the Most Awesome Gift for, in my case, a Mom who Loves to Cook? And you insert a link back to your big ticket item lens, again in my case, the  red range lens.

Now instead of having just one lens selling your big ticket item, you can have dozens of lenses all pointing to your big ticket item. And since each of your niche niche lenses appeals to a very specific and unique audience you’ve increased your chances of selling that dream product tremendously.

Building a lot of different lenses based on the same niche topic is a win-win situation.

Best case scenario – You sell a whole bunch of your big ticket item.

Worst case scenario – you sell a bunch of the smaller ticket items you’ve got listed on your niche niche wish lists!

And yes, there’s still more to come.  Stop back tomorrow for Part Three of How to Build a Better Holiday Niche!
